Key Points:

  • Just about every office and classroom at Reynolds has a Cisco phone.
     
  • These phones offer numerous features such as the ability to make and receive calls, access voice messages, set up three-way calling, etc.
     
  • These phones are operate by connecting to the campus network and getting an IP (Internet Protocol) address.


Instructions:

Some of the most common actions that can be done on our Cisco phones are listed below in more detail.

Accessing your voicemail system on-campus
  1. Press the Messages key on your phone (the icon looks like an envelope).
     
  2. You will then be prompted to enter your four or five-digit PIN and then press the # key. For users, setting up their voicemail for the first time, enter either your six-digit extension starting with 65 or enter 1024, and then press the # key.

    Note: If you do not remember your PIN, contact the Help Desk to get it reset.
     
  3. Select the appropriate option as provided in the voicemail system.
Accessing your voicemail system off-campus
  1. Dial 804-523-5999.
     
  2. Press the * key.
     
  3. Enter 65 plus your four-digit phone extension and then press the # key (Example: 655555).
     
  4. Enter your PIN and then press the # key again.
     
  5. Follow the prompts within the Unity Messaging System to access your voicemail.
Forwarding calls to another phone number
  1. Press the CFwdAll (call forward) soft key.
     
  2. Wait for two audible beeps.
     
  3. Dial the phone number that you want your calls forwarded to.

    Note: When you enter the phone number, the normal dialing rules will apply.

Tip: You can look up a person's extension easily by accessing the online Faculty/Staff directory.
Placing a local phone call within the 804 area code Dial 9 + 1 + 804 + seven-digit phone number.
Placing an in-state or out-of-state phone call (beyond our local 804 area code) Dial 9 + 1 + 10-digit phone number (including area code).

Warning: Personal long-distance calls should be restricted to college business only.  See TeamDynamix Knowledge Base article 145783 for more information about the policy.
Setting up a three-way call
  1. Dial the number of the second party to establish a conversation. If you are already on a call, skip to Step 2.
     
  2. After the call connects, press the More and Confirm (conference) soft keys.

    Note: A soft key is one of the four black buttons on your phone just below the screen where you can do advanced calling options such as Call Forwarding, Redial, etc.
     
  3. Dial the number of the third party you want to add to the conversation -- you should now be connected to both calls.
     
  4. Select the number of the third party you just called and then press the Confirm soft key one more time to merge the calls into a three-way call.
