Cisco Jabber - Certificate Error

Key Points:

• Occasionally, Cisco Jabber may display a certificate error when the program is being used.
   
• The error may cause Cisco Jabber to fail to communicate with the authentication server.
   
• The error is caused by the program not being able to trust the certificate in order to deem it safe.

Instructions:

When launching Cisco Jabber, users may receive the following error messge: "The server is presenting a certificate for [name of site] that Cisco Jabber cannot accept."  To resolve the issue, the user needs to do the following.

1. On the certificate error message, click Show Certificate > Issuer Statement to verify that the server name on the error message matches the name that the certificate was issued to.
    
2. Also verify on the Verify Certificate dialog box that both the Valid From and To dates have not already passed.
    
   • The Valid From date tells when the certificate was issued.  It is standard for the Valid From date to be in the past.
      
   • The To date tells when the certificate expires.  This date should be a date in the future to signal that the certificate is valid.
     
     
     
      
3. Click OK to close the Verify Certificate dialog box.
    
4. Restart your computer.
    
5. Launch Cisco Jabber again and verify that the error message is no longer present.
