TDX: KB Draft Pending Review

Before Getting Started

When someone has created a new draft of an article and submitted it, it becomes a pending draft that they or others can approve or not. While many have the permission to approve their own drafts, it is often helpful if someone else approves them. For this reason, you may be assigned a ticket asking you to approve pending drafts.

Assumption

You are a technician with the ability to approve (or not) pending drafts.

Steps

Click into the article and follow the Pending Review link on the right-hand side.

On the Draft Screen, you have a number of choices available.

Compare Revisions

This allows you to compare this draft with previous versions of the article in order to see what has changed in this draft version.

Edit This Revision

If a draft is close to good, you can edit it and update it yourself. You can edit the draft and update the draft, or edit the draft and update the published article.

Approve This Revision

If the article is good as it is, you can simply approve it.

Reject This Revision

This is a rarely used option.

Delete This Revision

We do have a number of articles that were updated by an intern where the new draft added little or no value, and in fact the suggested changes do not help. In this case, deleting the revision (and not notifying the author) is a reasonable option.

Other Possible Actions

It is possible that some other action is called for, for example, archiving an out-of-date article, or changing the owner. If you do not have the permissions to do this yourself--typically under Edit Article > Settings, file a TeamDynamix ticket and request the change.
