Cannot Access MyReynolds

Key Points:

  • MyReynolds is the portal that allows users to access VCCS enterprise applications such as AIS (Administrative Information System), SIS (Student Information System), Canvas, and Gmail.

  • Users must sign in with their assigned VCCS username and a current password.

  • Users must also authenticate to their account with a six-digit code or approving a login notification in the RapidIdentity app.  Additional authentication options may be available depending on your student status.

Instructions:

Students

  • If you are a new student, at the end of the enrollment application, it should have supplied you with a username and a temporary password to access MyReynolds -- you must login and change the password within 24 hours.

  • If you are a current student and are having trouble accessing MyReynolds, please call the Reynolds Information Center at 804-371-3000 for help.  They will conduct identity verification over the phone to make sure that no one else is trying to access your account information without authorization.

Employees (Faculty/Staff)

  • If you are a new employee, your designated supervisor will have your username and temporary password to access MyReynolds.

  • If you are a current employee and are having trouble accessing MyReynolds, please call the Help Desk at 804-523-5555 for help.

Once you have completed this process, we recommend that you set up
MFA (multi-factor authentication) on your account to protect it from unauthorized access by following the steps that are located at https://www.reynolds.edu/register_for_classes/technology_support/mfa.aspx.  There are four MFA options that are available to choose from.

  • SMS (Short-messaging service) – a login passcode will be sent to the mobile phone number that is on file for you in SIS.
  • Alternative Email – a login passcode will be sent to a non-school email address that is on file for you in SIS.
  • TOTP (Time-based one-time passcode) – a login passcode will be generated every 30 seconds on an authenticator app – such as Google Authenticator – that is downloaded on your computer or mobile device.  A QR code scan is required to link your account to the authenticator app (the QR code will be available on the MyReynolds login screen after you supply your username and/or password).
  • Push (Ping-me) – a login PIN or an approval notice will be generated in the RapidIdentity app that must be downloaded on your mobile device.

The fifth MFA option below has to be administratively set for you to be able to use it.

  • FIDO Key – a physical security key is plugged in to your computer to authenticate your MyReynolds login. The key is provided only if no other MFA option works to log you in. To get the key, you must fill out a Google form and then wait 24 hours before you can pick it up from a campus library.

There is a sixth MFA option – Pictograph -- that is enabled by default only if you are a dual-enrollment student.  You will be required to select an image you will associate with your account (e.g., a house).  When you log back into your account, you must choose the correct image to complete the authentication.
