Updating Personal & Contact Information in SIS

The Student Information System (SIS) is where a student's personal & contact information is stored and can be edited and updated at any time. This includes:

• Preferred name 
• Mailing address 
• Phone number 
• Email Address 
• Emergency Contact 

Preferred Name

Students have the ability to change their preferred name in SIS. The preferred name set here will be shown in Canvas, Zoom, Google, and other systems. 

Instructions for Changing a Preferred Name

It may take several hours for a name change to reflect in all systems.

1. Open SIS

2. Choose My Student Information

3. In the menu on the left-hand side of the screen, open Personal Information
4. Choose Names

5. Edit the Preferred Name and choose Save

Mailing Address

The mailing address listed in SIS is one place where important information from PVCC may be sent. 

Instructions for Changing a Mailing Address

1. Open SIS

2. Choose My Student Information

3. In the menu on the left-hand side of the screen, open Personal Information
4. Choose Addresses

5. Edit the Address and choose Save

Phone Numbers

Students may update their phone number in SIS. PVCC offices may use the phone number listed here to contact students with important information. 

Instructions for Changing Phone Numbers

1. Open SIS

2. Choose My Student Information

3. In the menu on the left-hand side of the screen, open Personal Information
4. Choose Phone Numbers

5. Edit the Phone Numbers and choose Save

Email Addresses

Email addresses, other than a student's assigned VCCS account, may be updated in SIS. 

Instructions for Changing Email Addresses

1. Open SIS

2. Choose My Student Information

3. In the menu on the left-hand side of the screen, open Personal Information
4. Choose Email Addresses

5. Edit the Email Address(es) and choose Save

Emergency Contacts

SIS is where students can list the person or people that should be notified in the event of an emergency.

Instructions for Changing Emergency Contact

1. Open SIS

2. Choose My Student Information

3. In the menu on the left-hand side of the screen, open Personal Information
4. Choose Emergency Contacts

5. Edit the Emergency Contact(s) and choose Save
