Adobe Acrobat includes Generative AI features, such as the AI Assistant and document summaries, that are turned on by default. If you'd prefer not to use them, you can turn them off in Acrobat's preferences. To start, open Adobe Acrobat and close any open PDFs.
- Open Preferences
- Windows: Menu > Preferences
- Mac: Acrobat (or View) > Preferences

- Locate Generative AI on the left hand side of the Preferences menu. Uncheck Enable generative AI features in Acrobat. You can also turn off any additional AI features by unchecking the box next to each option.

- Click OK. Depending on which features you turned off, you may need to restart Adobe Acrobat.
Once the features are off, the AI Assistant panel and the "summarize this document" prompts should no longer appear. If they return after an Acrobat update, just repeat these steps.
