Teams Phone: Start Teams at Login

Summary

Teams must be running to make and receive calls. This article helps you verify that Teams starts when you log into your computer.

Purpose

This article helps you check your Teams settings to make sure it starts when you log into your computer. If Teams is not running, you will not receive phone calls. 

Assumptions

  • You are a BRCC Employee with an assigned phone number
  • You have an assigned BRCC computer that uses your BR account to log in. 

Steps

  1. If it's not already open, click the Teams icon in your Task Bar, next to the start Menu. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2. At the top of Teams and to the right of the Search field, click the 3 dots and select Settings.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. With General settings selected, the first checkbox at the top of the System section should be checked, "Auto-start Teams". If it is not, click the check box.
    - To receive calls even when the teams window is closed, make sure the third check box is checked, "On close, keep the application running".
    - If you prefer the Teams window not appear when you sign in, you can select "Open application in background". Teams will start running without opening.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. Test: Restart your computer and sign in. Check the system tray next to the time by clicking the up arrow ^. You should see the teams app icon. If you don't, follow these steps again to verify your settings. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
