ZOOM

Zoom is the VCCS standard for audio and video conferencing.  This tool replaced other tools including WebEx, the VCCS Video Bridge (TMS), and VITA audio conferencing.  Zoom is also the primary tool for synchronous instruction and online classroom meetings. Your logo here

Zoom has four primary use cases:

• Audio Only Conference Calling

• Audio/Video Online Meetings

• Webinar Meetings

• Instruction collaboration and class meetings

All VCCS students, faculty, and staff have a ZOOM Education license entitled for 300 participant meetings and personal audio conference calling.  VCCS colleges can add on licenses to entitle Zoom Rooms, H.323 cloud connections, Zoom Webinars, and ZOOM large Meetings.

Zoom was integrated into Canvas providing instructors the option to add ZOOM meetings directly to a course and students can join the meeting by selecting ZOOM from the course navigation in Canvas.

Key Features and Benefits

Administration

The VCCS Zoom account is managed by System Office IT.  User administration is delegated to college IT staff to configure user and security policy settings.

MyVCCS Integration

Users are provisioned in the single sign-on process from MyVCCS or Canvas.  All accounts in Zoom are users' enterprise @email.vccs.edu accounts - this is a Zoom constraint in which accounts are email addresses.

External Integration

There is an LTI integration between Canvas and Zoom using LTI Pro (details here). The integration automatically adds Zoom meetings to the course calendar among other things.  Additional ZOOM add-ons can be requested by submitting a ticket.
