Key Points:
- Users can also map to our campus printers/copiers directly on our new server -- \\SR01-PSRV01.
- Users must still be connected to the campus network in order to map campus printers/copiers from the new server. This means they must have their college machine connected to an Ethernet cable directly to their machine or to their docking station, or they must be connected to the JSRCCnet secure Wi-Fi network. Users off-campus must be actively connected to the campus network using the GlobalProtect VPN* software.
*The GlobalProtect VPN software is not available to all users. See the Knowledge Base article located at https://help.vccs.edu/TDClient/3023/PortalJSRCC/KB/ArticleDet?ID=139871 for more information about the current VPN authorization guide.
Instructions:
- Make sure that your college computer is connected to the campus network. It must be connected to an Ethernet cable, JSRCCnet (secure wireless network), or to VPN (if your machine is off-campus).
- Click the Window Start menu icon down at the bottom left corner of your screen.
- Type the server path \\SR01-PSRV01 then press the Enter key.
Warning: If the server path is typed incorrectly or your machine is not connected to the campus network, you will not be able to connect to it to continue with the next steps.
- A File Explorer window should appear on your screen listing all the same printers/copiers that are found on the https://adminprint.reynolds.edu print directory page.
Tip: The printers/copiers shown in File Explorer are sorted alphabetically by campus location. Scroll through the list to make sure you can find the printer/copier you need to map to. If a printer/copier is not available in the list, contact the Help Desk for additional support.
- Double-click on the printer/copier you wish to connect to. A box will pop-up letting you that the connection is initiating and ultimately when it is finished.
Note: If you see an error message, this means that the printer/copier did not successfully map to your machine. You can attempt the connection again, but if it continues to generate an error message, contact the Help Desk for additional support.
- Once the printer/copier has been successfully mapped to your machine, you should see the a print queue window appear. Click the X to close it out.
- You can choose to send a document to the printer/copier to verify that it works.
Warning: Remember that you are responsible for any document you send to a campus printer!!! If you have any confidential or sensitive information that you wish to print, be mindful to setup locked (secure) printing before routing the job to the printer. For more instructions on setting up locked (secure) printing, view this DOT Knowledge Base article here: help.vccs.edu/TDClient/3023/PortalJSRCC/KB/ArticleDet?ID=139843.
