Reynolds Accounts - Faculty and Staff

Key Points:
 
  • All Reynolds faculty and staff have two accounts: a computer account and a MyReynolds account (also known as an EAD -- Enterprise Active Directory -- account).
     
  • Each account has a limited number of days that the password is valid before it expires and must be changed  -- currently it is set to 90 days for computer access (or approximately three months) and 180 days for MyReynolds access (or approximately six months).
     
  • Faculty and staff are required to keep up with their account username and password information to login to their accounts as necessary.
     
  • The Help Desk can reset passwords for each account if faculty and staff are unable to do it themselves.


Instructions:

Reynolds faculty and staff have two accounts:

  1. Computer account -- to login to a Reynolds computer and to access the Reynolds Intranet page
  • All Reynolds comuputer account usernames generally use the following syntax:  SR + first four letters of last name + first letter of first or middle name (Example: a user named John Smith would have the assigned computer account username of SRSMITJ unless it is currently assigned to another person)
     
  • Certain applications such as Office 365, SharePoint, and the KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training require users to enter their full Reynolds email address (e.g., JSmith@reynolds.edu) instead of their computer account username, but the password will be exactly the same as the one used to login to their computer account
  1. MyReynolds account -- to login to VCCS enterprise applications including Canvas, SIS, Navigate, and Zoom
  • All MyReynolds account usernames generally use the one of three syntaxes: 

    initials of name + two to six numbers

    OR

    first letter of first name + entire last name + two to six numbers

    OR

    JSRteach + first letter of first name + entire last name

    (Example: the same user, John Smith, could be assigned a MyReynolds account username of JS1234, JSmith1234, or JSRteachJSmith -- depending on when their account was created by the VCCS)

Computer accounts are set to force users to change their passwords after 90 days, or approximately three months of usage.  MyReynolds accounts are set to force users to change their passwords after 180 days, or approximately six months, of usage.

If users are unable to login to either account, they can attempt to reset their password on their own.  Instructional guides are attached to this knowledge base article.  Otherwise, they can contact the Help Desk at 804-523-5555 for assistance.
