2025 One-Time Bonus for Full-time and Part-time Employees

HR is pleased to share that as part of a recent budget agreement, Virginia state full-time employees will receive a one-time 1.5% bonus in recognition of their valuable contributions. This gesture also extends to educators, acknowledging their ongoing dedication. In addition, the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) has authorized a one-time bonus for part-time employees to ensure their contributions are equally recognized.

Employees must be employed on or before February 25, 2025, remain employed until at least May 25, 2025, and be actively employed on the pay date of June 16, 2025.  There are also performance requirements for the bonus.  Details are in DHRM's Memo and FAQs.

Please note that bonuses are subject to a 20% federal tax rate in addition to state taxes and FICA.

As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and integrity, the processing of employee bonuses requires significant HR resources to meet reporting requirements and uphold necessary checks and balances.  To ensure accuracy and compliance, bonus processing will be a top priority in the upcoming weeks. As a result, please be aware that some HR services may be temporarily delayed or placed on hold during this period.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to complete this important task. If you have any questions or time-sensitive needs, please don’t hesitate to contact the HR team.
