Teams includes a handy small icon that lives in the lower right Task Tray in Windows. This icon will change based on activity, and is a good way to be alerted that there is Teams activity that you have not yet seen, especially if you have the main Teams window minimized or closed.
Most of the time the icon is hidden in the overflow area, requiring that you click the arrow to see the icon, however you can force the icon to always be visible.
- Right click any blank area on the taskbar and select Taskbar Settings
- Click to expand Other system tray icons
- Scroll down until you see Microsoft Teams and select the toggle to turn in On
