Microsoft Learning Center: First things to know about calls

  1. Am I able to answer other employee's calls or are other employees able to answer mine?
    • Yes. There are several ways to have lines be answered by multiple people. Please reach out to the IT Department if this is something you would like to set up.
  2. Am I able to make and receive calls from the Office computer or Laptop without tying it to my personal phone?
    • Yes, you can use your office computer or laptop for calls regardless of whether you use Teams Mobile on your personal mobile phone. Teams Mobile is a great option to use for privacy and convenience, should you choose to do so. However, because it does work with your personal mobile phone, there is no requirement that you use it.
  3. If I choose to use the Teams Mobile option, will people see my cell phone number?
    • No. All communication is contained within the Teams App on your mobile device. Any call you make from the Teams app will show as coming from your office number. While the Teams app is able to use your cellular data connection, the app has no knowledge of your cell phone number and cannot use it in any way. *Please see the attached document for more information.
  4. Is a cellular device required for Teams Mobile?
    • No. Any device with a modern app store and WiFi connectivity will allow Teams Calls to function.
  5. Am I able to use my own Bluetooth earbuds with Teams Voice on my office PC?
    • Yes, the IT department can provide a Bluetooth adapter for an office PC for use with Bluetooth earbuds.
  6. Can I use a headset with the Teams USB Phone?
    • While this does work, we have seen mixed results with reliability using this method. If you are interested in a headset, you will likely have a better experience trading your USB phone for a USB headset.
  7. My Teams app is showing an Update button in the top bar. Is it ok to update Teams myself?
    • Yes, Teams is an app that any user can update without an administrator password. If Teams prompts your for an update, please do that.
  8. What if I have additional questions about Teams?
    • Please reach out to the IT Department (276-656-0211) for any questions that you have about using Teams.
