Tech Tip #68: How to Make a NotebookLM and AI review

Tags AI-TechTip

Good snowy afternoon, Gators!

I hope you’re safe and warm on this telework day. Today kicks off our 2-part series on NotebookLM:

  • Today: How it’s made
  • Next week: Benefits and uses

The VCCS promotes Microsoft and Google AI tools for their enhanced privacy controls—this includes Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, NotebookLM, and Google AI Studio (we’ll revisit AI Studio later).

Copilot and Gemini are great for general web searches, but sometimes the info doesn’t match your curriculum. That’s where NotebookLM shines: you choose the sources, and it focuses only on what you provide.

Examples:

  • Got a 1,000-page policy manual? Upload it and ask NotebookLM.
  • Comparing course info from multiple schools? Upload and ask.
  • Learning a new tool or device? Upload the manuals and ask.
  • Want custom study materials—guides, FAQs, podcasts, videos, slides, infographics? NotebookLM can help!

This tool has transformed how I work, and many of you have already tried it—but if you haven’t, now’s the time! A short video will follow showing how to set up your notebooks.  Click the photo to be taken to a link for a larger view.
