What can you use the Canvas Inbox for?
- Send and receive messages to individual students or to the entire class
- Filter messages by course or type
- View and reply to assignment submission comments
- Delete and archive messages
Why use the Canvas Inbox
- Inbox has a simple interface for composing and includes the ability to easily create an audio or video message
- Archive instead of delete to always retain copies of Conversations with students
- Clean: Not a new email address
- Easy to use: Connected to your main email address; can receive copies of your Canvas Conversations at the email or any Notification pathway and answer right from there. It will appear to students that the communication was all contained in Canvas
Note:
- Users display in the Inbox once they have an active enrollment in the course, and users cannot join a course unless it is published.
- Your course site must be published if you want the ability to send messages to your students before the semester has started.
- Once a course has concluded and its term date has passed, you can no longer message students in that course.
