myVCCS: Current or Alumni in Enterprise Active Directory (EAD)

Access to a number of resources within the VCCS depends on a user being identified as "Current". In EAD, this is defined as being in the Current OU (Organizational Unit). Our integrations with SIS and other systems drive membership in this OU.

Active faculty, staff, and employees are "Current" if they are correctly set up in our HR system, i.e., they have an active job record or are associated with instruction or advising.

Contractors who have submitted the appropriate paperwork are defined as Current. This requires a ticket to our security office.

Students with an enrolled status of E or W in the current, previous, or next semesters are considered Current. This also includes workforce students who are enrolled in courses that have a start and end date in scope despite the officially assigned semester.

Examples of resources impacted by the Current designation include:

  • Office365 for Students
    • For OneDrive, once someone is no longer Current in EAD, their Office365 account is held for 30 days in a recycle bin with full recovery available, and after that, it's permanently deleted.
  • Library Resources
    • Many library resources are only available to current students
  • Google Apps
    • While access to Google apps continues, some constraints may apply once someone is no longer current, e.g. special vendor discounts
  • Zoom

Pre-Enrolled = Users who have never had an active job record or have never been current are considered Pre-Enrolled. Pre-enrolled users only have access to SIS.
