Learn all about the Teams Phones calling interface and how to make, receive, and manage calls.
Answering a call
You will receive a desktop notification in the corner of your screen when a call is received.
- Answer an external call.
- Calls received from an outside source will give you two options. Accept call (blue) and decline call (red)

- Answer an internal call. Internal calls will display the name of the person calling you. Because they are using Teams, you can video chat or have a traditional audio only call.
- You can decline a call (red)
- Accept with audio (audio only -green phone)
- Accept with video (video chat -green camera)

Adding someone to a call
(Can only be done if all participants are PVCC employees using Teams)
- To add a new participant to an active call, select the people icon in your call control window.

- Then type their name or phone number in the search box and hit enter. This will add them to the call.

Starting a call using the dial-pad
The dial pad is used to place a call.

- Using the Dial Pad, type the number that you wish to call. If the person you're calling works for PVCC, you can also type their name.

- To start the call, click the Call as myself:

Starting a call using the contact
The contacts section is shared with Outlook. You can add a contact in the Teams client or Outlook
- Navigate tot he Calls App.


- Scroll down and located the contact and click the phone icon to make a Teams Call.

Starting a call using history
History shows all calls that were made.
- To call a person from History, navigate to he calls app.

- Hover over the call history you'd like to call back and click call.

Checking your voicemail
- Voicemails cannot be retrieved directly from Teams at this time.
- To review your voicemail, check your PVCC email address. Voicemails are delivered to your inbox with an attached .mp3 of the recording and transcription of the the message.
- If you work for a department where multiple people answer the same line, voicemails will be delivered to the department's email.
Transfer a call
Microsoft Teams provides the ability to transfer a call to another user. There are two types of transfers: Transfer (aka Blind Transfer) and Consultative Transfer.
Transfer (Blind Transfer)
- To transfer a call, select Transfer in your call window.

- Click Transfer in the drop down menu.

- Type the name or number of the person you wish to transfer the call to and select them. To finish, select Transfer. Or click the drop-down arrow in Transfer button to see more options. You can transfer the call to the selected person's work voicemail or work phone number.

Consultative transfer allows the person to consult with the person prior to transferring the call.
- To transfer a call, select Transfer in your call window.

- Click Consult then tranfer in the drop down menu.

- Type the name or number of the person you wish to transfer the call to and select them.
- Option one: Select Chat.

- Type a message to the person who you wish to transfer the call to, send your message, then select Transfer to complete the transfer.

- Click Teams Audio Call, consult live with t he person you wish to transfer call to, then click Transfer.

Putting a call on hold
- To place a call on hold, click Hold in your call window.

- You can continue your call by clicking Resume.
