What’s the Difference Between OneDrive and Teams and Sharepoint?

 
OneDrive
  • Personal file storage
  • Files are private to you, unless shared with others
  • Best used for:
    • Cloud file storage & backup
    • Sharing individual files with one or two other people
Teams
  • Storing files that will be collaborated on with others
  • File permissions are controlled by Team owners
  • Members of a Team have access to that Team's files
  • Best used for:
    • Working on documents that can be edited by multiple people simultaneously
    • Storing files for a small team or committee
SharePoint
  • Storing files for a department 
  • File permissions are controlled by site owners and administrators
  • Best used for:
    • Document libraries
    • Long-term file storage
    • Reference files
    • Sharing files across the college
