All students of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) are provided with a student email account through Google's Gmail service. Official communications from PVCC are sent to a student's email account, so it is important to check for new email regularly.
All student email accounts begin with the student's MyPVCC / Canvas Username and end with @email.vccs.edu. For example, abc12345@email.vccs.edu
Students can access their email account through a web browser or mobile app:
Web Browser Instructions
- From any computer, sign in to the MyPVCC student portal (see: Signing Into MyPVCC )
- Launch the Gmail application to enter the email account
Mobile App Instructions
- Download and / or open the free Gmail app
- Enter the student email address in the format abc12345@email.vccs.edu
- The app will be redirected to the MyPVCC student portal sign-in page
- Sign in to the MyPVCC student portal (see: Signing Into MyPVCC )
- Upon signing in, the student email account will be added to the Gmail app
Alumni Gmail Status
When a student stops attending the VCCS, email access will continue, with some limitations:
- Emails from Amazon.com and other sites commonly associated with educational discounts will be blocked.
- A signature will be added to the bottom of all outgoing emails indicating the student is an alumni of the VCCS.
