Overview

S-Mode is considered "Store Mode" and prevents laptop users from downloading anything not available on the Microsoft Store. You can remove the restriction, but once you do you cannot go back.

Details

To disable S-Mode, follow the directions below:

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation. If it doesn't allow you to unlock from the Microsoft Store, follow link below for further directions.

It may be necessary to go into Settings > Accounts >  Access Work or School and disconnect from any managed Office accounts.  If this was necessary to get out of S Mode, be sure to open Word and fix/reconnect to Office account.
