Overview
This article provides standardized troubleshooting guidelines for end users experiencing issues with 10Zig thin client devices.
Details
Definitions:
- 10Zig Thin Client:
A compact computing device that connects to virtual desktops (VDI) over the network.
Troubleshooting Checklist:
- Check Power Status:
Verify that the 10Zig unit is powered on by checking the indicator light on the front.
If the monitors say "No Signal," the unit may simply be off.
- Inspect All Cables:
Ensure that the power, network, and monitor cables are firmly seated.
Loose cables are the most common cause of reported 10Zig issues, especially after monitors or the unit have been moved.
- Perform a Quick Reboot:
Press the power button on the front of the unit to reboot the operating system.
This reinitializes the system and forces it to request a new network address.
- Resolve "Unable to Locate Server" Errors:
- Check the Link Light:
Look at the back of the unit where the network cable is plugged in.
The orange LED should be solid, and the yellow light should be blinking.
- The “Phone-as-a-switch” Fix:
If your 10Zig is plugged into a desk phone, unplug the phone from the wall jack (the one with the network symbol) to restart it.
Once the phone reboots, restart the 10Zig using the front power button.
- Verify Peripherals:
If you are having trouble with your camera or microphone (e.g. during Zoom calls), ensure the webcam is plugged in.
** Key Reminder **
The 10Zig is a device used to remote control your virtual machine (VM).
Rebooting the 10Zig does not reboot your VM.
For issues with a VM, see other documentation in the Knowledge Base.
