1. Open the empty Canvas shell and click on “Settings” from the menu on the left side of the course page.

2. From the Settings page, click on “Import Course Content” from the menu on the right.

3. From the “Content Type” drop down box, select “Copy a Canvas Course”.

4. In the “Search for a course” box, enter the course ID from which you would like to copy e.g., ME299.ITP.270.WA1.SP21. Be sure to leave the “Include completed courses” box checked. As you start typing in the course information, you will notice hyperlinks start to appear under the search box. Click the hyperlink to the appropriate course.

5. If you wish to copy the entirety of the course’s contents, select the “All content” radio button. If you wish to select only certain parts of the course, select the “Select specified content” radio button. If you wish to adjust the events and due dates of the course, select the “Adjust events and due dates” radio button.

6. After all selections have been made, select the “Import” button. The status of the copy will be moved under the “Current Jobs” section of the page. Once the course has been successfully copied, the status will move to a “Completed” state. The contents of your course have now been copied into your new Canvas shell.
