Eduroam: Windows PC - Configuration Assistance Tool

Always be able to connect to an eduRoam wi-fi network by following these steps to download and configure the eduroam Configuration Assistance Tool (CAT) for Virginia’s Community Colleges.

Before You Begin

Make sure you have:

  • An active internet connection (to download the installer file).

  • Your myVCCS username and password.

Step 1: Download the eduroam Installer

  1. Open your web browser and go to cat.eduroam.org.
    Download the installed

  2. Click the large blue button on the screen to open the organization search.

  3. In the search box, type Virginia Community College System and select it from the list.

Step 2: Download Your Custom Windows Profile

  1. The website will automatically detect your Windows operating system and show a blue download button for the VCCS-specific installer.

  2. Click the eduroam download button and save the .exe file to your computer (usually in your Downloads folder).

Step 3: Run the Setup File

  1. Open your Downloads folder (or the location where you saved the file).

  2. Double-click the downloaded .exe file to start the setup wizard.

  3. Click Next to proceed through the initial setup prompt.

Step 4: Enter Your Credentials

  1. When prompted, enter your VCCS email in the following format:

    • Username: YourUsername@email.vccs.edu

  2. Enter your myVCCS password in both password fields.

  3. Click Install.

Step 5: Complete Installation

  1. Wait for the installer to finish configuring your Wi-Fi profile.

  2. Once you see the "Installation Complete" window, click Finish.

You’re all set! Whenever you are on campus or visiting another participating eduroam institution, your PC will automatically connect to the eduroam network.
