MyReynolds Password Resets

Summary

This article outlines the process for resetting passwords via the MyReynolds portal.

Body

Key Points:

  • MyReynolds is the login portal for Reynolds Community College that allows faculty, staff, and students to access their VCCS enterprise applications, including Canvas, SIS (Student Information System), HCM (Human Capital Management), and Gmail.

  • In order to protect VCCS accounts from unauthorized access, all users are required to setup MFA (multi-factor authentication).  Each time a user attempts to login to their account, they will be prompted to enter a six-digit authentication code, approve a login notification, select a pictograph image, or use a security key device to authenticate to their account.

    • The six-digit authentication code will be used if users elect the SMS (short messaging service), Alternative Email, TOTP (time-based one-time passcode), or Push* (ping-me) MFA methods.

*Users that elect to use the Push (ping-me) MFA method will be required to download and configure the RapidIdentity app to their mobile device.  If biometrics -- like FaceID or TouchID -- is not enabled on their device, they must generate a PIN to use to authenticate to their account.  If they lose their PIN, it cannot be recovered by the college Help Desk nor the VCCS System Office, and the user must uninstall and re-install the RapidIdentity app to create a new PIN.

    • The login approval notice will only be available to users that elect to use Push (ping-me) MFA method, have installed and configured the RapidIdentity app on their mobile device, and have biometrics -- like FaceID or TouchID -- enabled.

    • The pictograph MFA method is only used by dual-enrollment students and is automatically configured by the VCCS System Office.

    • The security key device (known as a FIDO Key) can be used for account authentication if no other MFA method works.  To request a security key, users can fill out a form located here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSerd2mQzi6ql-i1NXdTxHx34Xoyoi0if4fTP4xDC9kvxwtz1Q/viewform?vc=0&c=0&w=1&flr=0 and pick it up from a campus library after two (2) business days.

  • Password changes in MyReynolds take effect immediately but for best results with access to all VCCS enterprise applications, users should wait at least 10 minutes to allow enough time for the new password to update to those applications.
