Hello, Laurel Ridge Neighbors!
Countdown to Neighbor Week is on and we are 13 days away. That’s 13 snappy mornings, 13 chances to practice kindness and 13 days to prepare for something special in our neighborhood.
👕 Kindness Lives Here Neighbor Week T-Shirts
If you’d like to wear your kindness right on your sleeve (literally), this is your gentle reminder to place your T-shirt order soon.
Delivery dates are currently estimated between March 13–26, so we can’t promise it will arrive in time for Neighbor Week. But here’s the lovely part: kindness never goes out of style. These shirts are just as snappy in July as they are in March!
When you order, $9 from each shirt is donated to the Laurel Ridge Educational Foundation. That’s kindness doing a little extra work behind the scenes.
🥗 It’s a Beautiful Potluck in the Neighborhood
Laurel Ridge does love a table full of shared dishes. Our Neighborhood Bites & Delights springtime potluck is taking shape, and three departments have already signed up. Imagine if it became a tradition we looked forward to every year. If you enjoy bringing something to the table, we’d be glad to have you join. Please sign up by Friday, March 13: link here.
💙 Donations That Make a Difference
You’re welcome to donate to wear jeans during Neighbor Week or simply to support our neighbors through TRiO, the Employee Emergency Assistance Fund, or the Parent Scholars Program. Donations can be made through the Neighbor Week webpage.
If giving looks more like sharing pantry staples, our on-campus food pantries would be grateful for:
- Proteins (canned tuna or chicken)
- Peanut butter
- Bread and cereal
- Cooking oils
- Cleaning supplies
- Laundry detergent and dryer sheets
- Personal hygiene products (deodorant, shampoo, toothbrushes, etc.)
- Dish soap
Small offerings, gathered together, can make a big difference in someone’s week.
🖍 A Little Coloring in the Neighborhood
Be on the lookout for small bundles of creativity arriving in campus mailboxes during Neighbor Week. Coloring opportunities will be delivered to help you pause, breathe, and add a little color to your day. Feel free to join the coloring tables that will be set up at every campus and site.
Sometimes caring for a neighborhood looks like raising funds. Sometimes it looks like self-care with crayons and a few quiet minutes. Both matter!
Gratitude
We’re looking forward to a week filled with kindness, connection, and caring for our Laurel Ridge neighbors. It’s such a good feeling to belong to a neighborhood like this!
“Try your best to make goodness attractive. That’s one of the toughest assignments you’ll ever be given.” - Fred Rogers
