Setting Up and Using Cisco Jabber

The Cisco Jabber App allows remote use of Laurel Ridge desk phones.  Calls answered in and made from the app function and appear exactly as if using the desk phone on campus.

  1. Once the Cisco Desktop app is installed on your laptop, log in with your MyLFCC (VCCS) user id @vccs.edu for the id,
  2. As an example, enter abc123@vccs.edu. (This is not your vccs email address.  DO NOT enter the word “email” when you login.)

Using Cisco Jabber for desktop hints:

  1. You must have the app open or calls will not ring through to your desktop.
  2. You must close the app on your desktop when you no longer want to accept work calls for the day.
  3. When you place a phone call from the app, the caller id is the same as when you are calling from your desk phone on campus.
  4. If you have more than one line tied to the app, they will be listed in the bottom left hand side of the screen with a drop-down arrow.  Before placing a call from the app, choose which line you would like to be displayed on the recipients caller id.

Troubleshooting Audio:

Go to Settings > Audio

If you are using headphones or external speakers, please check that “Switch to new microphone or speaker” is selected.

You can also adjust the speaker and microphone volumes as low or as high as you want here.

*Note:  You may need to reboot your computer for these changes to take effect.
