How to Use the HyFlex Technology in Some Classrooms

HOW TO USE THE NEW HYFLEX TECHNOLOGY

Here is some basic information on how to work the new HyFlex equipment, which is installed in some classrooms at Laurel Ridge.

This includes cameras, microphones, speakers, and the ability to display more than just the teacher’s station on the projectors.

What can I show on the screens, and how do I make that happen?

  • Teacher’s station:   Turn on the computer.   Touch anywhere on the touch panel to wake it up.   Touch again to get to the menu, and select the blue PC button. The projection screen will come down and the projector should wake up, displaying what is on your screen.
  • Laptop - To hook up a laptop and display – connect the HDMI to your laptop (and the USB if you’d like to use the cameras and microphones.) Follow those same instructions from before to wake up the touch panel and hit the green Laptop button.
  • Wireless - This is for Mersive devices, which allow faculty and students to display their laptop or phones wirelessly by entering a code. This is what the red Wireless button is for.
  • Document Camera - Lastly, there is an orange Document Camera button, which can be used to display whatever is underneath the Document Camera on the desk.

You can display more than one of these at the same time, using the Dual Presentation button, selecting which input you want to show on the display/TV and which you want to show on the projector.

There are cameras installed in the rooms, which are controlled by the touch panel. You can switch between cameras, move up, down, left, or right and zoom in and out.

Sound comes from a speaker in the ceiling, which also contains multiple microphones. When you’re in a Zoom call, or recording a lecture, you can manipulate the microphone settings to only record the front of the room, the back, or both.

When you are finished, just hit the power off button in the top right of the touch panel, and that will turn off the projector, the TV and retract the projector screen.

If you are using the technology and run into any roadblocks, please call Tech Services, or email us, if it is not urgent.
