Welcome to the Student Financial Planning (SFP) tool. Use this guide to learn how to log in, view alerts, upload requested documents, and grant portal access to a parent or guardian.
π How to Log Into the SFP Student Portal
Follow these steps to securely access your financial aid information:

Log In: Go to your MyVCCS account and log in.

Open Financial Aid: Select SIS from your homepage, then click the Financial Aid tile.

Choose Your School & Year: Select your associated institution, then choose the appropriate academic year.

Access the Portal: A new browser window will open. Enter your institution's login credentials to log in securely.

Electronic Consent: The first time you log in, you will be prompted to accept the Consent to Conduct Business Electronically before you can view your aid or submit tasks.

π Checking Messages and Notifications
The notifications and messages tabs highlight urgent action items required to keep your financial aid processing on track.

To Review Action Items: Log into SFP and click on Notifications in the main menu. (Example: A reminder to complete your Entrance Counseling).

To Read Communications: Select Messages from the menu to review direct correspondence from your financial aid office.
π₯ Granting FERPA & Guest Access (Proxy Access)
If you want a parent, guardian, or third party to view your financial aid information, you must first grant them authorized guest access.
Step 1: Sign the FERPA Form

Log into SFP and click the drop-down box in the upper-right corner of the homepage.

Select Profile to view your user information.

Scroll down and click Sign FERPA Form & Provide Consent.

Choose your preferred release option, scroll to the bottom, click I Accept, sign your name, and click Sign and Finish.


Step 2: Add an Authorized Guest

Once your FERPA status updates to "Completed," a Guest Icon (a person with a plus sign) will appear.

Click the icon to open the Add/Edit Proxy Portal Access settings.

Enter your guestβs email address, select Default Proxy, and click Save.

(Optional) To add multiple guests, simply repeat this process.
What Happens Next for Your Guest?

Your guest will receive an email activation link.
-
Their username will be their email address.
-
For their initial login, they will be prompted to reset their password using your VCCS Student ID as their temporary password.

They must accept the electronic business consent form to finish setting up their view.

π Uploading & Submitting Documents
If your financial aid status is marked as "Pending," you may need to submit supporting files.

Where to go: Click the Documents tab at the top of your My Financial Aid homepage. All outstanding requests are listed under Documents Requiring Attention.

First-Time Submissions: Click the Submit Document button next to the request, click Choose a File, and upload your document.

Modifying Past Submissions: If you need to fix an issue, scroll down to Document History, click Update Document, and choose to either replace the file or add an additional one.

Unrequested Documents: If you need to send a file that wasn't explicitly asked for, click Upload a non-requested document.
β οΈ Important Note: If the Owner and Award Year fields appear grayed out, you must click Choose a File first to activate the upload. Only the designated "Owner" (either you or your guest) can upload their respective files.
